Boundless growth, relentless hunt

Options & Affixes

Affixes set apart gear of the same slot and grade. How many roll and at what values, which affixes can't be found on drops, and set bonuses.

Affixes are bonus effects attached to gear. Even between pieces of the same slot and rarity, affixes decide which is worth more.

How many roll

The higher the rarity, the more you get. Common gear gets none at all, Uncommon gets one or two, Rare and Set get three or four, and Legendary gets four or more.

What rolls

  • Attributes — directly raise Strength · Vitality · Agility · Wisdom · Knowledge
  • Combat — attack power, defense, critical hits
  • Element — damage or resistance for a specific element. Which element is decided separately for each item
  • Utility — Journey Speed (Feet only), Attack Speed, Luck

Some affixes can't be found on drops

Affixes come in tiers, and gear you pick up only carries the bottom three tiers. Affixes that directly empower skills or boost reactions and status effects sit in the tiers above, so they only appear on Set gear · Legendary gear · crafted gear.

In other words, if you want to lock in a build through affixes, you'll eventually have to turn to the crafting stations or Set gear.

What to look for

Affixes that raise your class's primary attribute are usually the best. That attribute goes through one more round of calculation and benefits from every multiplier after it (see Stat Allocation).

Combat affixes come next. Element affixes are strongest when you know your opponent. For gear you'll use across the board, attributes are the better pick.

Luck affixes don't raise a single combat stat. They only change your odds of getting good items.

Tooltips

Hover over gear to see all of its affixes. Arrows comparing it with what you're wearing appear too, so going by those alone is usually right.

Affixes also show up in the gear's name, which reads "Prefix Base of Suffix" — for example, Swift Manasteel Gauntlets of Purity.

Sets

Separately from affixes, Set gear grants bonus effects based on how many pieces you've matched.
