Enhance & Disenchant

Enhance effects and their rising cost curve, where Conqueror's Seals are used, and the rules for getting Essence back by disenchanting.

Enhancing adds an effect to a piece of gear; disenchanting turns gear back into Essence. Enhancing lives in the Enhance menu (unlocks at Lv20), and disenchanting lives in the gear popover in your Inventory.

Enhance

Pick a piece of gear, then pick one effect from the list to apply. Put in the materials and Gold and it always succeeds.

  • No failures, no breakage. Luck doesn't come into it.
  • Each piece of gear holds only one enhancement. Applying a new effect removes the old one. They don't stack.
  • Effects come in three grades: I · II · III. II can be applied from Lv20, III from Lv40.
  • The cost is set by the gear's item level. The same III costs far more on max-level gear.
  • You can enhance gear you're wearing, and gear you've handed to your Outpost garrison. No need to take it off.
  • III requires Conqueror's Sigils.
  • Enhancement Cores, used as materials, can't be collected by walking around — neither monsters nor gathering give them.

Codex rewards and Spire milestones are the main sources, and they occasionally show up from Merchants and in Otherworld Chests.

  • Upgrading the Forge at your Outpost reduces the Gold cost of enhancing.

It's best to enhance only gear you'll actually keep using. Materials spent on gear you're about to replace don't come back.

Conqueror's Sigil

Elite monsters in Explore drop them. However, Elites in Seoul and Incheon don't — they start appearing from Chuncheon. You can also get them from Otherworld Chests and Merchants.

Enhance III isn't the only place Sigils are needed. They also go into every Outpost building at Lv.11 and above and high-level gear blueprints, so hang on to any you find.

Disenchant

Turns gear you don't use into Essence. Only gear in your bag can be disenchanted — unequip anything you're wearing first.

  • The amount of Essence is set by rarity and iLv. The higher the iLv, the noticeably more you get.
  • Essence comes in four tiers — Dust · Crystal · Gem · Primordial Gem — and the last tier drops only rarely, from disenchanting very high-level Legendary gear.
  • Disenchanting also yields Rubble. Upgrading the Salvage Yard at your Outpost gives you more.

Which element comes out

  • Weapons yield their own element. If you're after a particular element, disenchanting weapons of that element is the surest way.
  • Armor and accessories follow the elemental resistance affixes they carry. Armor with Frost resistance yields Frost Essence. Only gear with no clue at all rolls randomly among the eight elements.

Essence doesn't come from gathering. Besides disenchanting, its sources are monsters · Merchants · Otherworld Chests · Codex rewards · the Spire · city conquest rewards.

Essence goes into both crafting and enhancing. Even gear that looks useless is usually better disenchanted than kept.

If you're short on one particular element of Essence, you can convert it in the Essence Attunement Apothecary under Alchemy — but it's a roll of the dice, so read that page first.
