Levels & EXP
Where EXP comes from, how each city covers one level band, and what content levels unlock. Also covers Paragon growth beyond that.
Levels are the backbone of this game. Most things open up in step with your level.
EXP
Defeating monsters gives you EXP.
Enemies that are far too weak give heavily reduced EXP. That happens when your character's level is well above the monster's. It's set up so that going back to farm easy regions won't level you up quickly. (Gold is not reduced.)
EXP comes from Explore. The Rift Spire and the World Boss give other things instead and don't give character EXP.
One city, one bracket
Each city is tuned so that clearing its 30 regions once takes you up by the level range that city covers. Further along, you'll need to run the same regions several times.
What levels unlock
- Attribute points and talent points
- New content in the main menu — Codex · Soul Legion (3), Gather (4), Alchemy · Spire · Otherworld Chests (5), Craft Gear (12), Union · World Boss (15), Enhance · Outpost (20), Archive of Engravings (25)
- The talent tree itself opens at level 3
- Longer step counts
- Combat skill slots — three at first, four at level 30, five at level 50
- Bag slots — more every five levels starting at level 5
- Paragon from level 51
Paragon
Points start coming in from level 51 (at level 50 you still have 0). It's a growth path that keeps building separately from your level, with no end.
The talent tree fills up somewhere around level 90. From there, Paragon carries your growth.
Attributes and talents
Points earned from leveling up aren't spent automatically. You have to assign them yourself — see Stat Allocation and Talents & Paragon.
