FAQ
Out of potions, next city won't open, skills or Reactions not working — answers to where Adventurers get stuck most.
A collection of the questions we hear most often.
Can I try it without signing up?
Yes. Press Play as a guest on the login screen and you'll start right away.
However, your data is tied only to this browser's cookies, so if you clear your cookies you can't come back to it, and it's deleted if you don't visit for 30 days. You can also only level up to Lv.30.
If you sign up later, you can take your current character with you. Sign up with your Google account or an email address and your current account simply becomes a member account — only the level cap is lifted, and not a single character, bag slot or Codex entry is lost. There's nothing to choose. We only ask whether to move it over if that Google account is already attached to another account. The details are in Playing as a Guest.
I keep running out of potions
Collect materials through Gathering and brew them yourself with Alchemy. You won't have enough Gold to buy them all.
The next city won't open
You need to conquer all 30 regions in your current city. Level is not a requirement.
I'm not leveling up
Enemies that are too weak give heavily reduced EXP. Move up to regions that match your current level. The Spire and World Boss give no character EXP at all, so when you want to level, go to Explore.
I keep dying during Auto-Explore
Auto-Explore doesn't use skills. It only drinks potions for you. Fight tough enemies yourself.
If you're dying even with potions, they heal too little for your current HP. Auto-recovery drinks at most three bottles at a time and then stops — swap to potions of a tier that matches your level.
My skills won't unlock
Skills don't unlock from level alone. You need to take that skill's node in the Talent tree to get it, and then put it in your combat slots to use it.
My Reactions won't detonate
They only detonate when the detonating skill's element matches the element of the ignition. Bleed detonates with Physical, Burn with Fire. If you've only slotted detonators, that's the cause. Please see Status Effects & Reactions.
I'm not getting any Essence
Essence doesn't come from Gathering. Disenchant gear you don't use.
I'm short on Essence of one particular element
The surest route is to disenchant weapons of that element — only weapons give Essence of their own element as-is. You can also convert it in Alchemy's Essence Attunement lab, but it's a chance roll, and if it misses you get a different element.
I don't have any Conqueror's Seals
They drop from elites in Explore. However, elites in Seoul and Incheon don't drop them — they start appearing from Chuncheon. Otherworld Chests and wandering merchants are also sources.
My Otherworld Chest won't open
You don't have to just wait out the timer. Defeating monsters at or above your level speeds up the seal by that much. On the other hand, weaker packs than you can't speed up the seal, so going back through old regions doesn't help. The fastest way is to leave the chest sealing and head out to hunt somewhere worth going right now. Up to three unseal at once (five during the Otherworld Covenant), and the rest wait in line and take over automatically.
I'm always short on Gold
Going easy on Auto-Explore makes it last noticeably longer. Build an Outpost and Gold piles up while you're away. Daily Quests and Union Supply are daily income too, so don't forget them.
A hint disappeared
That's because you've already used that system. The full list is in All Hints.
Can I log in with my Google account?
Yes. That's one of the main ways in — press the Google button on the login screen and logging in and signing up happen in one go. If it's your first time, an account is created on the spot; if you already have one, you go straight in. You can also sign up with an email address and a password.
If you're already a member, you can link your Google account on My Page. Once it's linked, you can sign in with it from then on as well.
If you signed up only with Google, you have no password. Lose that Google account and you lose your way in along with it, so please be careful not to lose the account you've linked.
I opened another window and my character stopped
A character can only be controlled from one window. If you open a new window with the same account, control passes to the new window, and a notice appears in the window that was open first. To continue in that window, press [Continue in this window]. Nothing is lost — you're just choosing which window drives.
It says "Maintenance"
We're patching up the Rift. You can't enter the game until maintenance ends; a notice appears along with the scheduled end time (when one has been set). This wiki stays open during maintenance. Maintenance news is posted under the "Maintenance" category of the notices.
Where do I see notices?
In "Notices" on the right-hand panel of the game screen. A number appears when there are new notices, and important ones also show up once more as a banner at the top of the center column. Close the banner with ✕ and it won't appear again. Read status is per account, so switching characters won't show you the same notice again.
My account has been suspended
You can log in, but you can't enter the game. The notice screen shows the reason for the restriction and how long is left, and it lifts automatically once the period ends. Your characters and items are kept intact during the suspension.
If you disagree, please appeal within 30 days of receiving the notice — for member accounts, the [Appeal (1:1 Support)] button on that screen is the way to do it. We reply with the outcome of our review within 14 days of receiving your appeal.
I want to ask something that isn't here
You can leave a message directly for the operator at [1:1 Support] at the very bottom right of the game screen. You can look up your inquiries again right there, and when an answer is posted it's shown in a banner. We'll also let you know through your in-game Mailbox.
Replies can take a while. TR1 is a game made and run by one person, so there are days when we can't answer right away. But every inquiry you leave is read, without exception, and answered in order.
You can attach screenshots. Up to 5MB per image and up to three at a time (JPG·PNG·GIF·WEBP). For symptoms that are hard to describe in words, a single screenshot is much faster.
You can have up to three inquiries waiting for a reply at once. Closing a resolved inquiry frees up a spot again.
If you're playing as a guest, you can't leave an inquiry — we'd have nowhere to send the reply. Please see Playing as a Guest.
