Rift Resonance

Rift Resonance is a gauge that fills up over several days. When it's full, that day becomes a Resonance Surge Day.

How it fills

Almost every activity builds Resonance. Defeating monsters is the biggest share, and taking down a boss gives a big jump at once. Gathering, crafting, recording new entries in the Codex, and leveling up all count too.

There's a daily limit on how much you can fill. Even if you pour a whole day into it, it won't fill in one go — it usually takes about three days. Anything past the limit doesn't carry over to the next day; it's simply lost, so once you've filled today's share there's no need to push.

The limit resets every day at midnight PT. The Resonance gauge in the Lobby shows, with hatching, how much more you can fill today.

The Surge

Once the gauge is confirmed full, that day becomes a Surge Day. For the whole day, Gold, EXP and loot increase noticeably.

The Surge ends with the next midnight (PT) reset, and the gauge starts again from 0. During a Surge, a banner at the top of the screen shows the time left and how much extra you've received so far.

Where it applies

The Surge bonus applies to combat rewards in Explore and the Rift Spire.

Gathering, crafting and the World Boss do fill Resonance, but their rewards don't increase. The same goes for the Outpost and the Archive of Engravings. So on a Surge Day, spending your time in Explore or the Spire pays off.

No loss for taking a break

Even if you can't log in for a few days, the Resonance you've built stays where it is. It doesn't shrink or disappear.

Soul Resonance is something else

The Resonance in the Soul Legion has nothing to do with this gauge. It's an always-on stat bonus you get for deploying certain Souls together; it doesn't fill up or surge. You can see which combinations meet the conditions on the Soul Legion screen.
